Arbat

Many times painted and reflected in lyrics and songs, Arbat is a special place for every Muscovite.  Starting from the XIX century, the street and its surroundings was the most prestigious area to live, especially among intellectuals.  Almost every building preserves a memory of a writer, an actor, a thinker or a composer, and in the late 80s the street became a meeting-point of all Moscow hippies.

Now this lively street with its numerous eateries and souvenir shops, street artists and musicians is one of the favorite places to go in the evening both for locals and the city’s guests. And it is always worth it to turn a corner on a crooked side-street or to pop into a yard to see something as extraordinary as the foremost building of the 20s.
